3D GEOMETRIC SURVEY AND STRUCTURAL CRACK MAPPING OF THE CAPPUCCINI WATER RESERVOIR
ETS carried out a **3D survey using a terrestrial laser scanner** inside the historic “Cappuccini” water reservoir, located within the area managed by Valle Umbra Servizi, with the aim of identifying and documenting cracks in the structure. The reservoir was specifically drained to allow the survey to take place, providing an **operational window of approximately 5 hours**. The work was carried out at night to minimise disruption to the local population. This limited timeframe required the ETS team to ensure maximum efficiency, precision, and operational coordination. A team of two specialised operators performed a three-dimensional survey of the reservoir, collecting high-precision data within a short period of time. The subsequent data processing enabled the identification of structural cracks, which were then **highlighted in blue in the final technical documentation** delivered to the water utility operator. This project clearly demonstrates the added value of combining **technical expertise, efficient on-site organisation, and advanced surveying technologies** to support a better understanding and effective maintenance of water infrastructure.
